“I always wanted to be a hood philanthropist. Do cool things. And see my people get free.”
– Taj
Hi, I’m Taj!
I’m 23. An artist. A designer. A sound maker. A creative director.
I believe in liberation, in interconnectedness, and in making work that feels like home to the people who’ve never felt safe in one.
I met Ms. V through my family but we realized quickly: the world we were both trying to build was the same. Now, I serve at the first Creative Director of Rooted in the Work - shaping culture, holding energy, and helping design spaces that make people feel seen without having to explain their whole story.
A Bit About Me
I grew up with a dream of becoming a hood philanthropist. Not because I wanted credit, but because I’ve always known my people deserve more. More access. More beauty. More space. More truth. More chances to start again.
I make music that feels like liberation. I make clothes that feel like armor. I create visuals that hold grief and joy at the same time. I produce energy that reminds people they’re not alone. I live at the intersection of my work, and creativity is my power.
My Approach
I don’t need to know your whole story to make space for you. I move with intention and I create with emotion. I show up soft, even when the world tells me to be hard. I believe artists are architects of freedom - and I take that seriously. I use my voice, not just for myself, but for everyone who’s felt unseen by the world and the society around us.

For those looking for a way to support me and my work, the best way is to support me financially ($holyguru) as I build out my independent platform for my art and merchandise.
At Rooted in the Work, every team member has an individual platform. We believe that labor should be resourced, not exploited, and that the people doing this work deserve financial independence. Instead of relying on outside funders or institutions that dictate the terms, we build models of support that allow us to continue our work without compromise.
When you contribute, you’re not just supporting me. You’re sustaining a collective vision - one where the people closest to the work are valued, and where justice is built on care, accountability, and self-sufficiency.
